π Hello, classic movie fans! Help me save some silent movies!
Funds raised on my ReelOldMovies YouTube channel, ReelOldMovies website, books published on Amazon and more all go toward preserving and digitizing silent films. π️ An estimated 75 percent (or on the high-end 90 percent) of all American movies made in the silent area are lost. Kaput, gone, missing from history. That is heartbreaking. But there is hope! π¬ This year, two movies I'm trying to help preserve and digitize are "Husbands and Wives" (1920) and "Oh Mary, Be Careful" (1921). Luckily, prints exist at the Library of Congress. Hooray! But a quote to get them ready for public consumption and take the painstaking time to digitize them so modern equipment could view them is $1,446.50 (that is the actual figure from the Library of Congress quote). πΏ I personally have already invested thousands to help document and showcase these silent movies for the public. Some funding opportunities through federal grants have disappeared. Will you please help invest via a GoFundMe to preserve entertainment and cultural history for the current and future generations to enjoy? πΊπ If we meet our fundraising goal, donors will get an exclusive invite to digital premieres of the movies. And if we meet our fundraising goal, donors of more than $150 will also receive free copies of a movie history and trivia book. ❤️ Thanks to all who love classic movies and are supporting preservation and awareness in whatever ways they can! ❤️
