From understated flapper dresses to flamboyant frocks, the stars' fashion throughout almost 100 years of Academy Awards continues to inspire. As stars and movie fans gear up for 2024’s Oscar ceremonies on March 10, look back at some of the attire worn at the earliest Academy Awards ceremonies through the 1970s, featuring fashion favorites such as Audrey Hepburn and Diahann Carroll. And because Edith Head and Givenchy aren’t designing custom creations for the masses, we’ve rounded up a few dresses inspired by the glamorous ladies of Old Hollywood so you’ll always be ready for your close-up! Movie theater chains announced the first batches of classic films to be re-released on the big screen in 2024. Fathom Events , which parted ways with TCM, leads the pack along with Flashback Cinema, Alamo Drafthouse and other regional movie houses.  2024 will see the audience favorites “Gone with the Wind” and “The Wizard of Oz” (both 1939) hit movie theaters on their 85th anniversaries as well as “Blazing Saddles” marking its 50th anniversary. The  Alamo Drafthouse  chain is spotlighting movies (to be announced) from 1979 and 1974 later this year.  Here’s a list of classic movie re-releases coming soon to a theater hopefully near you. (A variety of independent movie houses include classic movies in their lineup but unfortunately, we can’t track all of those individually. “Charade” starring Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant is among the 25 movies inducted to the National Film Registry, the Library of Congress announced Wednesday, December 14.
